French Freestyle-Soccer-Player Séan Arnaud Garnier was crowned world freestyle football champion on tuesday 18 november 2008 in São Paulo, Brazil. Participants from 42 countries battled it out head-to-head in the South American footballing Mecca for the prestigious title at the Red Bull Street Style 2008 World Finals. Right in the heart of the thousands of fans cramming the Complexo Exportivo do Pacaembú were superstars Edgar Davids (NED), Bebeto (BRA), and futsal world champion Falcão (BRA), whose task it was to judge the performances of the athletes based on the criteria ball control, technique, and style in combination with the music. The next world championship is scheduled for 2010 in South Africa. A fearless goalkeeper, Mark has made a name for himself both for his penalty shoot-out heroics against Uruguay with the Socceroos, and his consistent displays in the English Premier League over the past decade – he’s currently considered one of the best keepers in that prestigious League. His achievements have been acknowledged with him voted this year’s Football Federation of Australia’s Footballer of the Year, Football Media Association Award for Australia’s Professional Footballer of the Year, and receiving an OAM. Mark started playing soccer for junior clubs in Sydney, progressing through the ranks as an international goalkeeper, starting with the Australian Under 17 team and then the Under 20s.
