    This was a fair fight. The UFC rules do not limit anything that James Toney normally does in a boxing match. The UFC rules certainly do not limit what Randy Couture does. If this were a boxing match it would be totally unfair because only James Toney would be allowed to do everything that he normally does. Boxing alone simply isn’t enough to win anything other than a boxing match. Toney, who is a world class boxer was not able to land even one blow on an older MMA fighter.

    @holidayrap In sports, especially fighting sports 5 years is significantly different especially when the fighters are over 40 years old.

    @BoxingChaos13
    I partially agree. MMA is not really complete. There are a lot of things you can’t do that could be done in a real street fight (yes, including pinching, biting and groin shots). However, it’s the most complete combat sport there is. It’s as close as you can get to a real fight. And, quite frankly, most of the things missing wouldn’t change the landscape that much concerning who wins. These things are mostly barred to prevent permanent injuries. Boxing is one dimensional.

  4. dookdawg214 says:

    Most seasoned MMA fighters are intelligent — a large portion even have college degrees. They don’t have to talk shit. They speak correctly, they understand grammar, they know how to spell — they get in the ring, analyze their opponent and take them apart tactically and strategically. Compare that to these sweaty jungle apes who just talk trash all day. Is it any surprise that Toney got his ass handed to him?

  5. commonsen5e says:

    @swimmerinstinct Wich makes it even more epic. .dude knocks out a former champ and gets strangled by Kimbo lol.

  6. swimmerinstinct says:

    @commonsen5e mercer may have KOed Sylvia, in a 9 second fight where 1 punch ended it all, but you’re forgetting that mercer also got schooled both on the feet and on the ground by Kimbo Slice, a street fighter debuting in MMA.

    @BoxingChaos13

    what the fuck you talking about? seams like you dont have a idea what you talking about? MMA is all fighting styles and which move you gonna using for a win dosnt matter after all! cant be a real man ? then move back to boxing or where you come from dont care a bit!

  8. chrismontoya79 says:

    @cdizzzzle Sorry brother, I guess I have seen things you have never. Some pretty incredible things by desperate men, especially in war. When ANY man is pushed into a corner, they become deadly and fierce. No rules apply, its any persons game. My whole point in all of this, is both Boxing and MMA are just sports. They have rules. In a real fight, there are no rules. So the first one to make you immobile wins. Even if that means burring your thumbs in your trachea. Get it?

  9. Zmaj747 says:

    @commonsen5e Exactly what I’m talking about. To be a real fighter, you need all the elements of fighting

  10. cdizzzzle says:

    @chrismontoya79 A street fighter will not beat a professionally trained fighter, you know that, I really hope you dont think your gonna bite and eye gouge your way out of a fight cause its just gonna get you hurt.

  11. MrMiller422 says:

    man james toney was pathetic in that fight. randy couture walked out that fight without even getting touched

  12. commonsen5e says:

    @Zmaj747 Just like a 20 year old grappler who’s a phenom training since he was 4 or 5 would absolutely ragdoll any top boxer like a Mayweather, Klitchko etc.

  13. commonsen5e says:

    @Zmaj747 What are you talking about man ? It’s a known fact that a Boxer won’t do well in MMA. But a boxer does have a better shot at MMA than say an MMA fighter does in boxing. Ray mercer is the proof he knocked out a former UFC champ, if a mma fighter knocked out a boxer in boxing I’d be able to the say the same. Like I said and comprehend this properly if Lesnar sparred with say a 20 year old HW boxing prodigy coming up he would get would played with and that’s a fact.

  14. Zmaj747 says:

    @commonsen5e Will always win**

  15. Zmaj747 says:

    @commonsen5e Neither, if you took the time to read what I wrote, you’d understand that a 19 year old Boxer would not do well in an MMA fight against an MMA Fighter. I admit, if UFC fighters strictly boxed with a boxer, they wouldn’t do well either. But in a real fight, there’s more then stand up. In a real fight, MMA fighters will always will. And Brock Lesnar is not childs play, I don’t care if you put him in a cage or a ring, he will not go down as easily as you might think

  16. chrismontoya79 says:

    @Zmaj747 Im in my 30′s, you know nothing about me, James Toney is a legend. He is a has been.He is now fat, old, with no reflexes. This argument has nothing to do with me and my fighting skills. I’m trying to explain to you MMA lovers that MMA does not apply in a real street fight. MMA is a sport. Why don’t you get it? Man up and train for the UFC? YOu know nothing of me and what i have done.

  17. commonsen5e says:

    @Zmaj747 Wow you’re not that dumb are you or you misread what I said ? I know for a fact that there’s 19 year old HW amateur boxers that would TOY with guys in the fucking UFC because they’ve been doing it since they were kids. Just like.. let’s say a 19 year old grappler has been grappling since he was 5 he’d be able to strangle boxing legends with ease. Just like a 19 year old HW boxer who’s been training since he was a child were to spar Lesnar it would be childs play.

  18. Zmaj747 says:

    @expostfactum Exactly my point, street fighters don’t know shit about fighting. UFC fighters are highly trained in fighing. If there’s anyone who disagrees with me, go to a gym that trains for MMA. I guarentee you that you’ll get handled by anyone that’s very well trained in MMA

  19. Zmaj747 says:

    @commonsen5e If you think these 19 real old amatuers can take on those kinds of guys, you are seroiusly delusional. UFC 118 is a perfect example of that. You have a Boxing legend like Toney, who has dominated boxing in 5 different weight divisions, gets beaten up by a man who’s nearly 50 years old. If you put any boxer you know in a cage with any UFC fighter in that weight division, the boxers are going to get taken down and submitted. That’s a fact

  20. Zmaj747 says:

    @chrismontoya79 If you have over 90 fights, you’d be in your 40s for damn sure. Second, Boxing is just one aspect of true fighting. You think you’re a fighter? James Toney is a legend in boxing, but got rapped when he came to the UFC. So don’t tell me you know how to fight and expect to beat UFC fighters. I invite you to try. If you think you have what it takes, man up and train for the UFC. You’re just wasting your breath talking about this, you know that you can’t compete against them.

  21. andrada95n says:

    James Toney: Ay-Bee-Wa Tsampon, Dub-You-Shampyon, Ei-Bee-Oh-Supa Milweyt … Are those real championshiops? =)))

  22. LUiSGRiNDC0RE says:

    fatter, uglier, dumber version of mayweather.

  23. DragonRising88 says:

    lol @ all the boxing heads coming in here trying to defend their sport

  24. ecomunky says:

    im a boxer and this was just the wrong guy to pick for this fight, he’s 42 and 40 pounds overweight he a natural cruiserweight at 190 pounds now he weighs 235. now if you put brock lesnar vs vitali klitscko then the result would be different. Boxing would win heavyweight champ vs heavyweight champ, not this washed up bum

  25. ls033189 says:

    @BoxingChaos13 They can “fight”. Boxers can’t fight, they can only “box”. MMA fighters can box, just not on the level of someone who has focused strictly on boxing their entire career.
