Incredible ride. I believe that as an advanced rider, that if the rider would lean back a little more before the larger jumps, the horse wouldn’t lack its feet. The rider leaning so much foreward is putting more momentum towards the foreward of the horse. When in cross coutry training, riders are taught to lean back 2-3 strides before the jump before entering 2 point. That way the horse has less pressure on the foreward of its body. But excelant run!

    amazingly talented horse and rider!

And I love the pure, hard-core eventing vids, we need a lot more of those on youtube! :)

it’s not bad on their legs if their riders put the effort into helping them stay sound (poultice, icing, wrapping, etc.) as long as you do the right maintenance for your horse they generally stay pretty sound!

Wow Oz looks like a pretty difficult horse, but AWESOME riding and he’s such a powerhouse! I was so impressed by her over the huge uphill banks – they require so much balance and strength and I see tons of riders who flail around on them.

    makes it look so easyyy
    omg

This sport does require a horse to be in top condition but they really like it. Some horses have so much energy that they need to work really hard to keep their mind and body busy. My filly is like this, she’s too young to event just yet but she loves going out on all different terrain and working. When she sees the tack, she comes running!

I think it’s a great sport. I am all about challenges. lol It just looks like some of the impact is rough on a horse but probably not more so then the western gaming events (which I compete in)

  8. ilovechancers says:

honestly its no better then hunters or jumpers… eventing has 3 fazes dressage- like a flat class in hunters, stadium- like a hunter course in hunters, and cross country is really no better then jumpers just that its in grass. eventers horses are in amazing shpe for wat they do. l

  9. MercuryJokerCasino says:

how bad is eventing and cross country on a horses legs really? Looks like they’d have all sorts of problems…
