I LOVE this music they’re using early in this clip. And I love the pro football of 1969.
I love “nifty” Gale Sayers
Not exactly a battle of big powers in 1969
I remember as a kid this was the show to watch to see highlights of every game. Another big show was “The Game of Week.”
Wow…the old St. Louis Cardinals football team. They had moved away before I was born…otherwise I probably would have grown up rooting for them and not the Bears since I’ve always been a Cardinals baseball fan. I like the Rams too but…heh…let’s be real here lol
@Dunkleosteus9 Yes – it is the same John Gilliam. A bit of trivia: Gilliam was drafted by the New Orleans Saints and scored the first touchdown in Saints’ history when he returned the opening kickoff in their first game against the Los Angeles Rams in 1967.
Is that the vkings Gilliam?
Even though he was given a total gift on that 0:48 play, Larry Stallings was a heck of a player for a pretty long time.
st.louis qb,jim hart would go on to bear the bears broadcaster.
This Cardinal game took place on September 28th, 1969. On November 16th of that
year in Atlanta,,,Piccolo took himself out of the game,,he could hardly breathe.
A week later he was diagnois with embryonal cell carcinomam.
ah yes my cardinals terry metcalf
Does anyone remember at what point during the season Brian Piccolo was diagnosed with cancer? I believe it did occur in 1969.
That errant time out was so embarrassing! Paul Christman spent some time explaining the mix-up on the post-game show. It made the highlight reels on every network that Sunday! Remember it well!
Ray Scott and Paul Christman called this game for CBS FWIW
Pat Summerall with the narration.
