Cycling UCI Road World Championships 2010 Thor Hushovd Elite Race Winner, last 5 km. It was a course for the tough sprinter, for a man made of iron who could get over the climbs and launch a brutal uphill sprint: enter Thor Hushovd (Norway). The final sprint in Geelong, Australia was perfectly suited to the Norwegian rider and with a clear run down the left-hand barrier, Hushovd secured a year in the rainbow jersey of UCI Road World Champion. Results: 1. Thor Hushovd (Norway) 6:21:49 2. Matti Breschel (Denmark) 3. Allan Davis (Australia) 4. Filippo Pozzato (Italy) 5. Greg Van Avermaet (Belgium) 6. Oscar Freire Gomez (Spain) 7. Alexandr Kolobnev (Russian Federation) 8. Assan Bazayev (Kazakhstan) 9. Yukiya Arashiro (Japan) 10. Romain Feillu (France) … 74. Peter Velits (Slovakia) 0:13:53: www.youtube.com

Two young Americans are helping others all over the world by giving bikes away to the less fortunate. As Jeff Glor reports, 88Bikes is spreading smiles, two wheels at a time.

Without the great work of the Spanish team, Thor Hushovd wouldn’t had a chance, so: thanx to the Spanish as well!!!
And please… Cavendish?!? He’s a great sprinter, yes. No, he’s a fantastic sprinter. But even he himself admitted that he wouldn’t be able to get to the finish, so for this race which purpose is to claim the best bike-rider in the world, Thor was – and stil is – THE MAN!
Is that Sean Kelly commentating?
Im Norwegian. The reason Hushovd won is not only because hes a good sprinter but also because hes tactical. But I think if Mark Cavendish was in that sprint he would beaten Hushovd pretty easy. Nobody can win over Cavendish in a sprint.
@davidlankenau Boring? Hushovd goes for the break, he makes things happen. How often do you see riders in the points competition alone over 1. cat climbs? The Manx missile throws tantrums, sulks and sits on wheels all day, then jumps 150 ms from the line – that’s boring.
Most boring rider in the field? Pippo Pozzato. Dandy wheelsucker.

he just manned up on that sprint too… no real draft… just speed and power. good one Thor!
@davidlankenau and a rider in the green tour jersey first up col du tourmalet with a 5 min. lead is never a boring rider.
anyone prepared to predict how many victories this rainbow jersey wearer will get? mine is 2
@davidlankenau i disagree, hes not the fastest sprinter any more but a good one, hes the best downhill rider in the peleton and hes climbing is impressive for a heavy sprinter. a perfect classics rider. cav is the best sprinter no doubt but thats all hes got.
nothing against Norway or its people, but Hushovd has got to be the most boring, characterless rider in the peleton….robots can beat humans anyday, but who wants to watch it??
give me phil-gil or cav anyday over this guy…
Thats my fellow countrymen

@richter75 At least they managed to get the catch of Phillipe Gilbert. The commentators I listened to thought he was still in front with 1km to go.
