Lichaj makes Premier League debut for Aston Villa
BIRMINGHAM, England (AP) — American defender Eric Lichaj (Lee-high) has made his Premier League debut. The Chicago native had made three previous appearances for the Villans: on Aug. 19 at Rapid Vienna in the Europa League , Sept. 22 against Blackburn in the League Cup and Oct. 27 against Burnley in the League Cup.

Sidwell out until Christmas
Aston Villa midfielder Steve Sidwell is to undergo surgery on his troublesome Achilles and will be sidelined until Christmas. Sidwell had been set to have an operation last month but postponed it because of Villa’s midfield injury crisis.
