Although some jumpers can and do compete successfully in the hunters, this horse’s main problem was not in pace or impulsion but in having too much knee action and not moving in a flowing free stride that hunters are meant to have. And I hate how the majority of pros ride nowadays.
He was riding him with impulsion. There is no rule that says a horse has to be slow. And jumpers are no lower quality movers than hunters! Rumba was originally a jumper! Your horse just has to keep a constant pace. Jersey Boy has been ridden in a hunter derby and he went along faster than this! And still got second place. This horse has a cute jumping style and is going along at a constant pace. His rider is not the best but this horse did good.
the rider is really hunchbacked the whole time.
While this is not a classic hunter or maybe not a hunter at all..many fantastic hunters have gone in a pelham. Just because D rings are in style at the moment doesn’t mean a hunter can’t go and win in a pelham!
cuz a derby you can have a jumper thats part of the class you have to ride it ilike a jumper laura won on enzo.. so dont be saying to much..

And out of all those jumpers, your hunter was in the bottom 4.
he’s wearing a pelham! and is going fast. the horse doesn’t need spurs. i thing the rider’s hunch is throwing the horse off.
my JUMPER ( GP Jumper actually ) im beginning to ride in Hunter Derby’s. he’s also actually Fox Hunted SEVERAL times and does it very well.

out of the 18 horses in the class…12 of them were jumpers
