It’s not a real spearfishing video. I take my speargun with me under water occasionally when I’m using the camera, but at the same time I want to get some fresh fish for my table. Usually I hold the camera in my right hand and the speargun in my left when I take pictures, but when I see the fish I’d like for dinner — I switch hands. As you can imagine it’s not easy to aim both devices at same time to the same target accurately. Usually I don’t miss fish, but my left hand with the camera moves too much. In rocky underwater environment I usually use 5 prongs tip to save the spear. It holds fish perfectly if you shoot fish in the head or in the back. Of course, this tip can be used for medium size fish only, I would say up to 3-4 kg of weight. Normally I need not more than 2-3 kg fresh fish for my family dinner, so it suits me perfectly. I use a single tip when I’m fishing for bigger fish like seabass, but at this moment I have no videos with single tip hunting. Episodes in this video were recorded on a few different days in different locations. There is some problem with this site – I can’t add any comment-? I just wanted to say: Thanks for all your comments. There is no mullet in this video. I do fish mullet sometimes, and I cook it without any fat and I add a lemon after. Bass likes shallow and sandy places. More information about fishing in Ireland you can find here – forums.deeperblue.net I use 70cm pneumatic speargun, it’s powerful and accurate. I open wrasse from the …

@kerryfoster1 I’m ashamed of your IQ level.
Disgracefull, fancy spearfishing wrasse the most inedible fish in the sea, thats why you don’t see them on fishmongers slabs. You should be ashamed of yourself.
@HoleyTiger Last small thing, or to tell exactly – useful advice that I received from Garda officer when I was enquiring regarding spearguns in order to avoid any potential problem: no pressure inside – no pneumatic gun. So, keep it pressure free when you store or transport it, that’s it.
@HoleyTiger P.S. Since I started filming, I don’t fish anymore – don’t have time. My rusty speargun is lying somewhere in the attic without pressure.
@HoleyTiger 3. a) It is not permitted to use any means to catch fish other than by knife, hand‐spear or a spear expelled by a gun using compressed air, spring or rubber.
b) No cartridge or expellable gas guns may be used.
c) Guns must not be loaded on the beach or in a boat, and must be unloaded before leaving the water.
@underwaterireland 2. Garda said ALMOST the same as you said: that a pneumatic speargun can be classified as a firearm if it is loaded on land, the same as a band powered gun can be classified as an arbalest again if it is loaded on land. Verbally we agreed that I should follow UK regulations until the Irish regulations are created. Here is an extraction from UK spearfishing regulations below:
@HoleyTiger 1. Thanks for the reminder. When 5 years ago I started spearfishing here I tried to find any regulations. I found none so I contacted Fisheries Board regarding fishing rules and Garda regarding guns. Nobody was able to say anything clearly but eventually Fisheries suggested to follow Irish fishing regulations and to refer to UK spearfishing regulations.
You are a pro
@rambos2ndcousin I never kill (use to kill before I switched to photo & video) more than I can eat in one go without stuffing myself. All this fish was killed during whole year. Plese read info about the video before to say something.
@switzercraftbullet One more tip: if you going to order speargun, order couple of spare shafts (inox is better), spare tips single and mutlyprong for flatfish and rocky places, spare loader (-s).
@switzercraftbullet I think that sl70 is enough for our fish unless if you want to fish tuna
Besides, I’m 175cm tall and I think I’ll not be able to load sl100 in water (arms are not long enough).
should i get a sl 70 or a sl100
@switzercraftbullet I do snorkeling and freediving only. You can get any gear including a speargun from scubastore dt com Good luck.
do you snorcle or dive with a tank i live in the west of galway i go snorcleing for scalops and love being in the water.there are loads of places i could go spear fishing i fish alot with a rod and in a currach but dont know where to get a stear gun.im new to it and i would love to start.do you have any info or tips please tell me
@baldycoup wrasse are lovely to eat boiled with onions
4:24 that was perfect
@ryanthefisher too many for one year?
@StevEandNimbuS you’re right, it’s not for rambos
@baldycoup for the 10th time: yes, I’m eating wrasse. But I’m not eating beef and chicken. Any problem here? I never kill (-ed) more than I can eat without stuffing myself and I don’t (again – didn’t) kill for relatives (as master rambos said – funny…) If you watch my different videos where in 2007 and this year I swam with lots of bass? I had speargan with me but I didn’t kill any fish, man. So, try to read info about the video and think, then – say something. Please.
why are you killing wrasse? surely you dont eat them.
it would be like eating a fukin shoe!

@TimothyKusherets Well Hooray..Thank God there is someone who dedicates themself to this horrific problem!! Maybe more should see the light!
I salute you Timothy..I had no idea how bad this is..I’m enlightened now though..It’s a great post and eye opener! Glad I had the chance to get some education from it…we could all stand more of that and hopefully benefit from it..and step up to the realization of the things going on around us…we never knew…and make the effort to improve…
@jam2music It’s actually a prolific problem so much so that I dedicated a stint of four years catching poachers and other illegal fishermen.
I just saw this Timothy …I can see how this can cause consternation for many who see this …What a waste!! ! It’s horrible! I can’t believe this happens …I have never seen anything like it …never knew it was allowed to exist anywhere!
If those salmon are going to be used, i dont have a problem, but if they are going to just let the fish rot like it says in the video title, the shit has OFFICIALLY hit the fan.
@losaturn Chum, Chinook, Coho, and Silvers.
The natives have been netting fish for thousands of years the Americans have been doing it for a few hundred the natives should be able to fish whenever they want and keep as many as they need…….. I do agree they shouldn’t be wasting them they should catch as many as they need and stop.
redspecial27, i agree. us americans, we have to pay for everything and can only keep a certain amount per day. this video is a good video and proves a good point. the dnr should catch these ppl and throw them in jail just like what would happen to us in an instant.
a couple days ago, i was out fishing in this one spot and some natives come by down there, and they said I cant fish there. They said the salmon need to be able to make it up their spawning rivers so “WE CAN OPEN OUR FISH LADDER FOR THEM” they said as soon as they got their gill nets accross the river next friday I could SPORT FISH there. I’m fucking tired of this shit. We cant fish because they dont have their nets in the water. The fate of salmon rest in their dirty hands.
@redspecial27 I think about that all the time. News organizations are welcome to the footage anytime they’d like but wonder if they think it’s too hot for television news. Pass the video along and let’s see what happens.
is there a way this video can be sent to some kind of government official?
wow…. thats insane. what tribe is this? where is this??
I have never had a problem with netting and LEGAL netting practices. It is the absence of ethical and moral control that makes situations like this reprehensible. Having said that, it is important to note that this particular circumstance does not represent all tribal nations.
I just rewatched this, what a mess.
Jeez I just rewatched this video, still blows my mind. This is a cluster of bad things.
I see the same thing on the Fraser river just east of Vancouver. Natives dumping perfectly good dead salmon after the eggs are gutted.
Thanks for sharing. How sad this is allowed to continue.
What is the location of this?
man that’s a shame-what a waste
I wouldn’t have been able to stand there that long I think, especially after the bonk and through by the kid.
Are those chum?
Those poor tribal netters, its there god given right to harvest those fish. What we need to do is elect more extreme liberal politicians to ensure these poor tribal netters continue to RAPE AND PILLAGE while there casinos pay minimal to ZERO taxes!! Don’t worry though, those nets don’t catch wild or endangered stocks!! That we can be sure of!!
This is shocking! What a dreadful waste of life and food.
last time i came down down here i was watching the same thing going on and i was just standing there thinking of how many fish where wasted…sad sad sad
