Most of the craft seen in the video are available in kit form for under $ 3,500. MPG is 5x better than a boat. Average 4 seat hovercraft gets 15 mpg on water. – oh, please watch your language, we have kids watching these videos.

The last craft shown is our TW-1, tandem wing ground effect prototype. Its a UH original design using 35 hp Briggs engine.

I’m a tinkerer when I’m playing, so they fit very well with my idea of fun. I’m in Illinois, USA so I’m somewhat land locked. I disagree with your 30 years comment, but to each his own. The insurance thing is starting to work its way out too, if you build to a certain standard.
Not a problem. I get a smile when people act like hovercraft are Harleys.
As for ocean going hovercraft, not happening anytime soon. Even LCACs aren’t used in the deep sea areas. Heck there are no serious differnces between today’s HC and the ones 30 years ago.
The market is limited, the tech is limited, I gave it a go, just not as exciting as I thought it’d be.
Also, no one will insure a hovercraft like a boat.

The world is 2/3 water. Seriously, though, I’m not in a contest with anyone. I like hovercrafts, so I drive those. If I were going off road, it would be a dirt bike, but I’m not really into that.

I bought the DVD at a hovercraft race, it’s cool. Everyone I show the movie to says that they want a hovercraft. I’m working on a Universal kit right now, Universal Hovercraft ROCKS!!
