Jayson Werth press conference for the Washington Nationals

Jayson Werth is in it for the long haul with the Washington Nationals. The right fielder’s seven-year, 6 million contract with Washington includes a full no-trade clause, and an optimistic-sounding Werth repeatedly spoke Wednesday about helping turn the team around. He will be 38 when this contract ends, and he mentioned playing into his 40′s

@PhillyPhanaticsDotCm He picked the nats over being back with the phillies and yankees. The guy has won a ring and wants to play in a great city that is young and wants to be in rebuild mode.

Why does he have to smile to show something? not everybody smiles.

  2. PhillyPhanaticsDotCm says:

Jayson Werth barely smiled during this introduction – especially when donning the Nationals jersey. He sure seemed to have a “what have I just done” look about him. Contrast that with the frequently beaming Cliff Lee. Compare the reactions on PhillyPhanatics-dot-com’s “Brother-Lee love” piece

I hope he becomes an even better player. Good luck and congrats to Jayson and his family……… but as a Phils fan, it’s hard to see him play for any other team. Fast foward to around 46 secs. …………….Jayson looks like the HOTTEST Walgreen’s pharmacist EVER!
