Michael Jordan v Detroit Pistons – Game 3 1990

In 1990, the Pistons were on there way to their second straight world championship. The only thing in their way was Michael Jordan. After losing the first two games in Detroit, Jordan came out in Game 3 and scored 47 points against the toughest defence maybe ever – which was totally designed to stop Jordan. The “Jordan Rules” didn’t slow Jordan in this game – he shot 17-32FGs (53%) and also had 10 rebounds and 4 assists in the bulls win. This is one of my favourite games ever. Seeing Jordan this pumped up is pretty rare, and it is a pleasure to watch. Enjoy…

  11. xmen1079 says:

They won 3 championships without Rodman. They swept the Pistons in 91 and since then the Pistons were nothing not even with Grant Hill in 96-98. Know your basketball history

  12. PUSHERMAN79 says:

who harder the chalange the better Jordan would play, the best perfomances of Jordan was against the best defensive teams, the best averages in the Playoffs, please don’t say he was good for is time, he is the best of all time

The Pistons of the 80s and early 90s were one of the toughest defensive teams ever.

Teams of the 2000s that you mention, like the Spurs and the Pistons play a different style of game.

Back in the 1990s teams played a more uptempo – higher scoring style – like Phoenix does today. Most teams today play a slower game and therefore scoring is not as high.

Some statistics can be deceiving – lower field goal percentage today may also be more from bad shooting than good defence.

  14. jasonlathan1978 says:

Considering that most teams of that era averaged over 100ppg they were one of the toughest defenses of that time. The Detroit defense of that time paved the way for the the great Pistons and Spurs defenses. A lot of what they do they took from that Pistons team.

jordan could do anything aginst anyone duh

  16. khawaja1951 says:

“one of the toughest defenses ever”

really? 44.7 % defensive field goal percentage and 98 ppg allowed is one of the toughest defensives ever?

how about the pistons and spurs of a few years back who allowed less than 85 ppg and less than 42 percent shooting?

that’s tough defense. i’d like to see jordan do this against those teams.

Let this be a lesson to young players. If you are good at driving to the basket, then practice your outside shot and practice it endlessly. That way, when defenses take away the drive, then you can hit the outside shot. The better Jordan got at the outside shot, the better chance he had to beat the Pistons, who wanted him to drive. He came close to beating them this particular year, and then swept them the next year. Take a lesson from MJ: never stop improving.

he dominates,he is everywhere!!!I think is MJ versus Detroit Pistons…LOL

  21. Amir883 says:

Umm, no. The Bulls won WITHOUT Rodman in 91-92-93. So..yeah.

  22. bootleg365 says:

and they lose the series piston go on and win the championchip jordan dont win until he gets the pistons MVP Dennis Rodman thats how you win you need your finese then you need your bad boy

  23. scoonie2929 says:

    he is insane

  24. ddeennpp says:

It still would have been fair if the NBA implemented a rule stating that any team going against MJ’s Bulls would be allowed a 6th man inside.

  25. Spintermar says:

he’s doing everything he can… that’s for sure!
