@jziglar true. this might mean trading a guy like blanton

  13. jziglar says:

@sortman94 Yeah Amaro is going to have to work hard to replenish the farm system. Especially if certain players leave due to Free agency.

  14. sortman94 says:

@jziglar yeah its a win lose situation. its a positive move because halladay can lead this team to another pennant but the negative is that the phils are running out of talent in the minors. marson, donald, carrasco, knapp, drabek, brown and the other guy made up most of the great prospects in the system

  15. jziglar says:

@sortman94 Oh I see ! I’m still surprised that he made the trade for Halladay. Halladay is good but he is getting old and he costs too much in terms of prospects. I’m glad the Yankees didn’t trade for him, but if I were the Phillies GM I might have held off on the deal because I wouldn’t want to wipe out the farm. The Phillies are the class of the NL and with those prospects they could be a top team for many years. Even with the trade the Phillies are a really good team.

  16. sortman94 says:

@jziglar first off, amaro’s head is too far up his own ass. also, between the initial lee trade and now the halladay trade, the phillies’ farm system is being wiped out. 6 of the top 20 phillies prospects were traded in the lee and halladay trades. trading lee was supposed to make some cap space and sort of revamp the farm system because the phils got two decent young guys in return

  17. jziglar says:

@sortman94 Why didn’t Amaro keep Lee for 1 year while trading for Halladay ? That 1-2 punch with the Phillies offense would win the World Series in 2010. I don’t know why he traded Lee.

  18. jziglar says:

@sortman94 Yeah I think that a lot of people think that the Yankees just buy all of their players but they have a lot of homegrown talent. The reason why the payroll is so big is because the Yankees spend a lot of money to keep their homegrown talent. Many teams can’t afford to do that because if they did their payrolls would sky rocket. I like Joba and Hughes they are young and still learning but I think they could be very good pitchers down the line.

  19. sortman94 says:

yeah but drabek was regarded as such a good player that he was declared untouchable by the jarheaded ruben amaro jr who gave him away anyway. and looking at the players who have been produced by the yankees farm system, i just sit back and say WOW. joba, hughes and the list goes on. i enjoy watching the yankees play. just so fluent and smooth

  20. jziglar says:

I saw Kyle Drabek he looks like the real deal that kid has good stuff. I know why they they give him away in that trade ? Drabek has the stuff to be a number 1 in the rotation. The Phillies have a good farm system, they can produce some talent. I’m a Yankee fan but I respect a lot of teams and I really like seeing the Phillies play because they play the game with heart and class.

  21. sortman94 says:

thats amazing. i cant wait to see how he does when he eventually gets called up. i remember all the hype about him at the futures game. also from the futures game, kyle drabek from the phils. from a phils fan perspective, i wish the phils held on to drabek and taylor.

  22. jziglar says:

Actually I mean’t to say that the farm system is not the top in baseball but the system is good.

  23. jziglar says:

Yeah Jesus Montero. He was listed as one of the top prospects in Baseball America’s listing. This kid is the real deal. He can hit line drive homeruns to the opposite field and he can pull the ball, and he has great plate coverage and he doesn’t strike out that much. Scouts have compared his power to Miguel Cabrera, and Mike Piazza.

  24. sortman94 says:

they have that one phenom catcher am i correct?

  25. jziglar says:

@tallguy0215 Actually the yankees do have a farm system. Rivera, Posada, Jeter, Andy P., Joba Chamberlain, Phil Hughes, David Robertson, Alfredo Aceves, Robinson Cano, Melky Cabrera, Brett Gardner, Ramiro Pena, and Francisco Cervelli all came from the farm and are on the Yankees. Also the yankee farm system is one of the top systems in baseball. So you need to check your facts before talking.

  26. jziglar says:

@norjak71 Sorry some fans can be annoying. But I respect what the Rays did and them beating Boston was in 2008 was funny.
