    @asajol oh, i know about the IAJS, but i mean most people i talk to from england and australia, no matter what their age, know who al jolson is, whereas in america, most people dont even know who chuck berry is anymore, let alone jolson

    I can’t speak for others … but I was thirteen in 1950 when Jolson died. Only a year after his film “Jolson Sings Again” … And at the time, as well as several years after, he was probably, or possibly, bigger than any other popular singer one could imagine. Living or dead! … The American based IAJS is still up and running too … :p
