On Twitter: @longisland495 Milwaukee’s media is probably less than the entire Yankees press corps by itself. The Milwaukee Brewers have inked a deal to land star pitcher Zack Greinke (formerly with the Kansas City Royals). The Brew Crew recently emerged as a contender in the Zack Greinke Sweepstakes which turned out to be a “poor man’s Cliff Lee Sweepstakes”. Other prospective outlets included the Texas Rangers in case Cliff Lee spurned them… …which, of course, he did. Some out-of-control New York Yankee fans wanted The Great Greinke as a consolation prize for them swinging and missing bad on Cliff Lee. One problem: The Great Greinke prefers to be great without a lot of press following him around. Greinke has had social disorder issues in the past, which does not bode well if you want to play in New York City. You can run and hide from people and the press in Milwaukee, not in Gotham. The deal works for Greinke from a baseball standpoint as well. Greinke is moving to the National League, where pitchers thrive more than they do in the American League. This is, obviously, on account of this strange thing called the Designated Hitter. No DH in the NL, of course. Milwaukee is trying to provide a boost to a pitching staff that will now have him as their ace. Yovani Gallardo was very good as well with his 14-7 record and an ERA around 3.8. They also have Shawn Marcum and Randy Wolf. Wolf is old, though. Some people don’t know anyone on Milwaukee’s starting staff. CC …
