Teams who are chasing a pennant in 2010 such as the Chicago White Sox, Texas Rangers and Detroit Tigers will be calling to inquire about what it would take to pier Adam Dunn, the talented 1st baseman out of the Nation’s capitol. San Francisco Giants fans celebrate a World Series championship over the Texas Rangers at the intersection of McAllister Street and Polk Street near City Hall in the Civic Center neighborhood of downtown San Francisco. Monday, November 1, 2010.

“The San Francisco Giants added depth for their stretch run by acquiring outfielder Jose Guillen from the Kansas City Royals for a player to be named later. Guillen’s three-year, million contract is set to expire at the end of the year, and the Royals agreed to pay a portion of the pro-rated contract. Guillen, 34, was in the midst of his third season with the Royals and was batting .255 with 16 homers and 62 batted in 106 games before being designated for assignment on August 5. San Francisco’s current outfield boasts Pat Burrell, Aaron Rowand, Nate Schierholtz and Andres Torres. Guillen last played in the National League in 2006, when he batted .216 and hit nine home runs in 69 games for the Nationals.”

Northwest superstore Eagle Hardware & Garden found its market share at risk as category killer Home Depot began opening stores next to nearly every Eagle Hardware location. The Jones team used Eagles home field advantage literally. Television commercials featuring Seattle Mariners stars appealed to the hometown crowd while boasting Eagles superior selection. The popularity of the campaign forced Home Depot to buy out Eagles Mariners media sponsorship, but it was too late. The 8-year campaign had a very loyal following. Eagle beat Home Depots sales in the Northwest every year until purchased by Lowes in 1999.
