The giant waves along the Hawaiian coast offer the world’s most extreme surfing challenge. Daniel Kereopa, a 23-year-old Maori from New Zealand, has enjoyed several years on the professional surfing circuit and was the 1999 Indigenous World Champion. Now, with the support of Australian surfing legends Ross Clark-Jones and Tony Ray, Daniel is determined to take on the monster Hawaiian waves. We follow Daniel’s intensive preparations in New Zealand, with all the trials and tribulations involved in the big build-up. In Hawaii, Daniel is soon proving his ability as a big wave jet ski driver with ever-increasing confidence. The climax to his day comes when he takes to his board for that one last wave and ends up catching the biggest wave of the day. Daniel has come of age as a big wave surfer. An uplifting demonstration of how skill and focus can lead to ultimate achievement.
