The final match of the netball season for Northern Premier league holders, Loughborough University took them to an away to trip to Leeds Met. With a bredth of talent on both sides it was set to be a close match. Loughborough went into the match with a previous win over the Leeds Met side in their home leg, but with top spot in the league up for grabs, the Leeds Met girls were out for revenge on their home turf. The first quarter saw Leeds Met in front by just one, as the shooters were matching each other at either end goal for goal, and with shooters like Jo Harten, Alex Kirk, Carla Dziwoki and Jo Walker, the talent on show was some of the best the country has to offer. By half time, the home side had taken the lead and the scoreline read 31-27, but by no means is that a clear lead in netball and the game continued at the same competitive speed as had been seen in the first half. Leeds Met went on to extend their lead in the 3rd quarter to 8 goals but the final quarter saw a Loughborough fight back which was a nail biting encounter which meant the game was not decided until the very final seconds of the game. The impact of this win is not only a league winning performace, but also sets Leeds Met up for a home draw in the knockout stages of the BUCS Championships with their eyes on the final at the EIS in Sheffield on 10 March 2010 at the BUCS Championships.
